Each page refers to another aspect of cat lore. The cat (Felis catus) is also known as the domestic cat or housecat. Wild cats, i.e. domestic cats that have gone wild, are nowadays often called feral cats. A wildcat (Felis silvestris), however is a non-domestic creature, belonging to the cat family, but not of the same sub-species.
Cats made a tacit contract with mankind thousands of years ago: they keep our houses, store-rooms and ships free of rodents; in return we look after them, provide affection and a home, feed them when they can’t find food for themselves.
In the Middle Ages, cats were killed by the thousands, owing to a belief that they were witches’ familiars. This evil practice quite possibly contributed to the propagation of the great plague, the Black Death, which was presumably spread by the fleas on infected rats. We broke the contract and we paid for it.

Cat collars are a matter of some debate. Are they dangerous to an adventurous animal that may find itself hooked on a branch or a railing? An ear tattoo or a chip can identify him better than a collar tag. We also encourage you to add your own knowledge about and experiences with cats to this site, this includes pictures you may find interesting or cute.
